Abstract

Applying the method of geometrical optics, it is shown that for a dispersive delay line, provided that the parameters of pulse linear FM and dispersion parameters of MSW coordinated so that the RF pulse is compressed, there is a point where the characteristics intersect, and this point is called a spatial-temporal focus. That is, there exists an optimal ratio between the parameters of linear FM, the frequency dispersion in the delay line, its length and, consequently, the delay time at which the RF pulse compression maximum. In certain limits to maintain this optimum ratio is possible by regulating the intensity of a constant magnetic field.
